This is what the crash scene looks like in the summer. This highly detailed photograph shows C-47D 43-16062 lying on the muddy plains near the Isachsen weather station on Ellef Ringnes Island, Nunavut, Canada. It was taken by Merlin Mac Aulay, during the summer of 1958. The total lack of snow reveals a lot of detail, such as the crumpled remains of a ski under the wing, and the damage to the wingtip. The tailnumber '316062' is clearly visible, as are the fuselage titles 'Military Air Transport Service'. Below them the faded 'Troop Carrier Command' titles can also be seen.
